An "inside-out greenhouse"

An innovative site respecting the natural setting

How do you design an innovative site whilst respecting the natural setting of the Médoc? This was the challenge set and achieved by Philippe Raoux, founder of La Winery, and Patrick Hernandez, the architect. La Winery is designed like an inside-out greenhouse, where people and wine are placed at the heart of the Médoc countryside.

The materials used were raw: stainless steel to reflect the light, glass and wood. The result is highly impressive: wide-open spaces that merge into the setting or are reflected in the lake, all set around a kind of cloister and topped by roofs with plants.
